Booking a first appointment for laser hair or tattoo removal can feel like a big step, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. The good news is that your first visit to Erased is a free consultation and patch test — a relaxed, no-obligation chance to ask questions and see how your skin responds before you commit to anything.
What happens at your consultation
1. We talk through what you want
We’ll start with a chat about the area (or tattoo) you’d like treated and what you’re hoping to achieve. There’s no such thing as a silly question — this is your time to ask about anything, from how the treatment feels to how long a course usually takes.
2. We look at your skin, hair or tattoo
For hair removal, we assess your hair and skin type to work out the right approach. For tattoo removal, we look at the ink colours and density, the size and location of the tattoo, and your skin tone, since all of these affect how it responds.
3. We talk about your health and skin
We’ll ask about any medication you take, skin conditions, recent sun exposure or previous laser treatments. It’s worth being open about these, as they help us treat you safely and choose the right settings.
4. The patch test
A small patch test lets us check how your skin responds to the laser before treating a larger area. It’s a simple, quick step, and it’s an important one for your safety and for getting the settings right.
5. Your personalised plan and quote
Once we’ve seen your skin and heard your goals, we’ll talk you through a plan that suits you and give you a clear quote. If you’d like to go ahead, remember that every Erased treatment plan lets you pay for 5 sessions upfront and get your 6th free — but there’s never any pressure to decide on the day.
How to prepare
A little preparation helps your consultation run smoothly:
- Note down your questions beforehand so nothing gets forgotten.
- Think about your medical history — any medication, skin conditions or previous treatments.
- Avoid tanning and sunbeds before your visit, as tanned skin can affect what we’re able to treat.
- Come with clean skin, free of make-up, moisturiser or fake tan on the area in question.
Once you’re booked in for treatment, our pre-laser care guide covers everything to do in the run-up to your first session.
What happens next
After your consultation and patch test, you can book your first treatment whenever you’re ready. Wondering how long a course of laser hair removal usually takes? Have a read of how many sessions you’ll need. We offer appointments by arrangement, with flexible evening and weekend slots, at Brow House in Swinton.
Please note: this is a general overview of what to expect. Your therapist will explain everything in detail and tailor advice to you at your consultation.
